SKID ROW's SABO: We Never Argue
January 22, 2003SKID ROW guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo says that the addition of vocalist Johnny Solinger and drummer Phil Varone to the band's lineup came about very naturally and did not include an awkward "adjustment period" before the five members of the group began to feel like a "band".
"Not at all," Snake said in an interview posted on the group's official web site (www.skidrow.com). "Johnny came in and had this quiet confidence about him. I mean picture it, you're walking into and unknown place with unknown people except you know they have a history because they sold a few records. None of it bothered him. He sang his ass off, and had the gig about ten minutes after he started, and that night we all went out and got wrecked. The next day we did the same thing, and we've been best buds ever since. We never argue and I have tremendous respect for him as a person as well as a musician. As far as Phil goes, we've known him for forever. He's always felt that he was meant to be in this band and I believe he is right. Phil's the 'corruptor', but I was the one who taught him how to drink on the KISS tour. Now, I think it's safe to say, he's a seasoned pro. By far the funniest person I ever met."
